How long does the visa take to process?
It is strongly recommended that you submit your application early as each application is different and some applications can be complex. Your application will also take longer to process if you do not include all the relevant information that is on each checklist. It may also take longer to process if further checking is required (for example, checking on the documents that you provide), or if you are not an Indonesian citizen.
The processing times for visa applications (for both Jakarta and Bali) are:
Temporary visas:
• Visitor: 5 working days
• Business (short stay): 3 working days
• Transit: 3 working days
• Medical Treatment: 5 working days
• Student: 15 working days
• Student Guardian visa: 15 working days
• Non-business visas (subclass number between 400 and 499): 15 working days.
Migration visas:
• Partner Migration: 3-5 months
• Child Migration (child, dependent child): 2-3 months
• Child Migration (adoption, orphan relative): 3-5 months
• Other family migration: 3-5 months.
Other applications:
• Citizenship applications: 10 working days
• Resident Return: 10 working days
• Evidencing visas (which have already been granted): 3 working days.
What if I want to travel urgently / want a visa processed faster?
Please submit your application early and provide all the information on the checklist for your visa application. If you are requesting priority processing (such as urgent travel), please advise AVAC of this request when you give your application to them, and they will advise you of the process. If you have already submitted your application and the situation is URGENT, please contact us.
Can I ask another person to deal with the Immigration Section on my behalf?
If you want to authorise another person to be able to discuss your application with the Immigration Section, or for them to receive information about your application, you should either:
• write this on the application form; or
• provide a written statement; or
• complete Form 956. This form is available at the Australian Visa Application Centre (or at the link below).
Australian privacy laws prevent us from responding to enquiries from people who are not authorised by you. This includes people who are providing support to an application.
