Indonesian and Australian Building and Construction Experts Discuss Design and Style
Australian Deputy Head of Mission Louise Hand today opened an Australian building and construction seminar which featured industry presentations by Indonesia’s leading developer Dr Ciputra, founder and Chairman of the Ciputra Group, and Australian architect Guy Morgan.
More than 250 participants attended the Design and Style 2008 seminar in Jakarta including senior members of the Indonesian contracting, architectural and interior design associations, as well as major players in the building and construction sector.
Indonesia has one of the fastest growing construction industries in Asia with growth for 2007 estimated to be almost 14 per cent, and the outlook through to 2011 predicting an average growth of 8.4 per cent per annum.
“Australia has been actively involved in the Indonesian building and construction sectors growth and successfully provided 960 billion rupiah worth of products and service solutions in 2006 - a 20 per cent increase on the previous year,” Ms Hand said.
Ms Hand said that Australia’s strength in building and construction products and services stems from a well developed domestic market, a stringent regulatory system, energy efficiency in new construction and advanced technology.
“This seminar provides an opportunity to see the latest in building products from Australia, which are not only sophisticated, stylish and economical but also environmentally friendly,” Ms Hand said.
The Design and Style 2008 is organised by the Australian Government through the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) in Jakarta with support from the Indonesian Department of Public Works, the Indonesian Architects Association, leading Australian companies BlueScope Steel, Air Cell and Granito, and media partner Asri Magazine.
