G’day Mate Australian alumni concert

The Australian Embassy Jakarta is proud to present Australia’s-own The Jungle Giants, supported by Australian alumni bands, Neonomora and Elephant Kind. The concert will be held at Empirica, in the SCBD area of Jakarta on Wednesday night, 22 April 2015.

The Jungle Giants is an Australian indie-rock and pop band from Brisbane, Queensland. Formed in 2011, the band consists of Sam Hales (Haley) on Vocals/Guitar, Cesira Aitken (Ken) on Lead Guitar, Andrew Dooris on Bass Guitar/Backing Vocals and Keelan Bijker - Drums/Trombone. They have been on a roll since their single ‘Mr Polite’ took over YouTube in 2011. Their first album, 'Learn to Exist' was released independently in August 2013 and has been on high rotation on Australian radio.

They will be supported by two Indonesian performers, who are both Australian alumni. Neonomora is an indie-rock singer and song writer who was featured in Buzzfeed as one of "10 Incredible Indonesian Bands You Should Listen To". Her debut album reached number 14 on the Indonesian charts, was rated the Best Indonesian Album of 2013 by Rolling Stone Indonesia and was nominated for "Breakthrough Artist of The Year" by NET TV in May 2014.

The Elephant Kind’s solid live performances and catchy tunes have made them a band-to-watch in local music circles. The band consists of Bam Mastro, Adisapoetra, Dewa Pratama and John Paul Patton.

Cultural Counsellor, Alison Purnell said, “G’day Mate concert is a great event where Australian alumni work together to network and engage with other alumni and the concert brings the best music of Australia and Indonesia.”

This concert, proudly supported by Prasvana entertainment, is open to the public. Tickets can be bought at the door on the night of the event or at Kiostix (www.kiostix.com).
